In Remembrance of Anne Rines Stanley

Anne Rines Stanley

Anne Rines Stanley

While we seek to know our JoAnn Pike Legacy Circle members, there are those that make the quiet decision to include Good Shepherd Food Bank in their estate plans. These gifts are perhaps some of the most humbling—knowing the individuals placed great trust in us to carry out some of their last wishes and honor their legacy without having met and talked with us.

Anne Stanley was one of those women. While we did not know her, she knew our work. As she approached the end of her life, she spoke with her family about her long-standing plans to leave a gift to Good Shepherd Food Bank.

Her brother, Jamie Rines, shared, “…she had a love of life, family, the arts and her beloved dogs. We talked a lot in her last month of life, and she was quite specific about leaving a gift to Good Shepherd Food Bank to help the people of Maine with food security.”

Anne spent her life finding ways to connect with friends and family. Through her bequest, she will continue building connections with neighbors, especially children.

Part of Anne’s gift will be dedicated toward our Youth and Family Initiatives programs, supporting more than 240 school pantry partners across the state. The remainder of her gift will help ensure organizational stability and support our hunger-ending work for many years to come.

You, too, can leave a legacy through your estate plan that reflects your values, your compassion and your desire to help Mainers facing hunger. Please contact Erin Peck Yarema at (207) 344-1248 or eyarema@gsfb.org to learn more.
